Perrenland Cantons
Kershane
Hintervoormann (head of the Cantonal Council): Prince Naugrim
Genhene
The grey elven Principality of Kershane ruled over the region of the Kershane
Pass for centuries, until a treacherous Roodberg assault in 142 CY led to
Kershane City being separated from the rest of the Oerth by a magical barrier.
Without leadership, the rest of the Principality of Kershane lost political
cohesion and fell under the political hegemony of the Rooberg clan. When the
Covenant of Concatenation was introduced, those territories were included
in the Roodberg canton of Clatspurgen.
The City of Kershane remained isolated behind its magical barrier for almost
450 years, until it became possible to travel through the barrier with effort.
At the request of the Kershanites, Prince Naugrim Genhene of Celene was sent
to take on the rulership of the Principality. Prince Naugrim began the process
of reintegrating Kershane into the politics of the region, finding ready allies
in the still-loyal elves and fiercely anti-Roodberg Vosser clansfolk of the
northern Clatspurs.
In 593 CY, Prince Naugrim sought to have Kershane recognised as a semi-autonomous
kingdom within Perrenland. His request was approved by the Concatenated Council
of Perrenland, who granted Kershane the status of a Canton and the Kershanites
the status of a clan. In doing so, they also reassigned the territory north
of the Kershane Pass and east of St Cuthbert's monastery from the Canton of
Clatspurgen to the new Canton of Kershane.
