Sports and Games
Perrenders enjoy physical contests and betting on the outcome of such contests.
Given the high value placed on military service, it is not surprising that
many common outdoors sports are derived from military activities. These include:
- boxing
- wrestling
- target archery
- fighting with blunted weapons
Many clans also take great pride in breeding and rearing horses, particularly
the Rosrijders and the Weisspeers. Several different types of horse-riding
contests are widespread throughout Perrenland, including:
- horse racing
- show jumping
- rodeo riding
- wevenstock
Indoor sports tend to be those that can be enjoyed at a tavern or an inn, and
games from across the Flanaess can be found in Perrenland's establishments because
of the nation's wide-travelling mercenaries. Common games include:
- card games
- dice games
- throwing darts
- arm wrestling
Betting is a time-honoured tradition throughout Perrenland, and the discerning
punter can usually find someone who will offer competitive odds for almost
any contest. It is perfectly acceptable to bet on yourself to win, but a crime
to bet on yourself to lose.
