Perrenland Climate
Microclimates
The
nature of the mountains that ring Perrenland complicate the country's climate
and weather. Both the Yatils and Clatspur ranges possess many odd cuttings
and facings, producing an abundance of microclimates. This is notable in the
western Yatils, with some south-facing valleys remaining fertile well into
winter, while others less than a dozen miles away remain shadowed and frozen
until mid-summer.
Some valleys within the western Yatils have stands of tamarisk, balsam and
other resin-producing trees. Perhaps the most famous of these isolated climates
is in Zellingwasser valley, where the Rhegir glacier can be seen side by side
with ferns and other plants more typical of a tropical clime. Up one arm of
the valley is the cold mass of the Rhegir; the other has the warm, sheltered
settlement of Corbel, which makes an excellent living from selling resins
and mulches rarely seen in Perrenland.
