Perrenland Government
Electing the Voormann
The Voormann is elected for a term of eight years. Nominations are called
for Voormann any time between Growfest and Brewfest (early to late summer)
in the year before the current Voormann's term is due to end.
The process is complex, and involves nominations and elections at every level
of Perrenland's government. Most of Perrenland's citizen cannot stand as a candidate for
the position of Voormann, as candidates must be a Graf, and thus noble-born.
Various levels of Perrenland's government - the Stadt Councils (and their
equivalents), the Cantonal Councils and the House of Grafs - nominate a number
of candidates for the position. Through a chaotic system of nominations, political
alliances, and ballots, the field is slowly reduced until one Perrenlander
is finally elected to the position of Voormann.
The preview election for the Voormann was originally due to take place in
592 CY, but was delayed until 593 CY because of the turmoil caused by Karl
Hussen's abduction of Hanne Weisspeer. Nominations for the next election are
due to be called between Growfest and Brewfest 599 CY.
