As
time passes, empires become corrupt and rulers become onerous. In 254 CY the
Viceroyalty of Ferrond rebelled against a now corrupt Empire: the Kingdom
of Furyondy was declared. All across the western Flanaess the shackles of
imperial rule were thrown off. The Furyondians were fair and reasonable rulers,
yet still Perrenlanders wished to rule themselves. More time passed ... and
the "The Relentless Horde" appeared, a vast migration of Bakluni horsemen
that threatened the entire north and west of the Flanaess. The more settled
forces of the Flanaess prepared to meet the invaders, giving the Perrenese
an opportunity to revolt that they feared might not come again. All Perrenland
rose in an (essentially) peaceful revolution. The royal garrisons of Furyondy
were expelled and its bailiffs ejected. A distracted Furyondy couldn't spare
the soldiers and other resources needed to re-impose its will on Perrenland
while the Horde remained a threat.
