The Dragonborn Register (Das Drache Getragenes)

The Dragonborn Register is an organisation dedicated to the research and training of Perrenders who have found themselves with draconic ancestry. The organisation’s primary function is to find and train those who fit this category to release and master the power that comes with their heritage. Centuries ago, an attempt was undertaken to control the population of half-dragons being born. Although the bloodlines flourished, the spirit of the dragon was successfully repressed, causing it to lay dormant and unnoticed by those who possessed it. Eventually, the stories of dragonborn lineage began to be forgotten and an ancient tome, which documented the families of those affected, was lost.

In 562CY, a bard by the name of Hagen Lehrer rediscovered an ancient tome called The Dragonborn Register. Over the next few years, he managed to trace the whereabouts of a few of the Yattenheid families listed within the Register. The history he discovered led him to develop an interest in restoring the population of half-dragons and he began to study ways of unlocking the power of the dragon and rekindle the spirit that had been suppressed. To this end, Hagen Lehrer established a library and training institute in the Yattenheid Mountains, where the dragonborn could be trained to use their newly reawakened abilities. It was these first few who, after a period of time, formed an inner circle of researchers and teachers of a society that took its name from the register that Lehrer had discovered.

Unfortunately, a schism developed within the Register. As the inner circle grew in power, so did their draconic lusts. This lead to conflicts as they could no longer cooperate with members of a different heritage. This schism led to the breakaway of Liebgard Litchmann and Ewald Lesser with several other members who supported them to form a new faction; the Drache Tabellierprogramme Conclave. The betrayal was complete when it was found that they had also copied the Register and were actively seeking others of their kind; with the ultimatum of join or die. Of course, once it was shown that new recruits were not of their own lineage, they were destroyed anyway to prevent recruitment by the Drache Getragenes. Knowledge of this schism has been kept from the authorities and Auszug, as it is not known how they would react. This means there is great urgency to find those still alive and descended from the Register as a secret brews in the Yattenheid Mountains. The Drache Getragenes have become more active as a result with neither side yet strong enough to win the "Insider War" for control of the dragons.

There are cryptic references to kind of grey dragon involved in the project but no mortal has found anything at this time.
