Treasure Hunters Guild

Revised for 596 CY

During 594 CY, a secret war raged in the streets of Schwartzenbruin between the Secret Society of Treasure Seekers (Gehuimbund der Schatzgraebern) and the Perrenland Heritage Recovery Society. Few know the truth of what really happened, but when the dust finally settled, neither existed in its original form: the Treasure Hunters Guild replaced them both.

The headquarters of the Treasure Seekers had mysteriously burned to the ground (rumours stated that a demon burst from the upper floors right after this) and Madam Besnaray of the Recoverers has not been seen since. With the leadership of both societies killed or missing, the lower echelon members banded together to form a new guild: one capable of tackling the toughest recovery missions with the research and knowledge to back it up.

For a while meetings still took place at "Besnaray House" in the Old City section of Schwartzenbruin, but by Patchwall 594 CY they had moved to a terrace house in the new city, as Madam Besnaray’s relatives had taken possession to her estates and titles. For a time the members even undertook paid research as befits loremasters.

During late 595 CY, a number of members of the Treasure Hunters Guild disappeared. Strangely, even though the members had no doubt fallen prey to the minions of the Famine Queen or the Old One, many more of the arcanely inclined were lost than those of the roguish persuasion. Obviously this points to the superior survival skills of the rogues. Some still whisper that perhaps there is something darker going on. Whether by ill fortune or not though, the power balance has tipped and the Treasure Hunter’s Guild is once more dominated by the followers of Olidimarra. Discussions are now less likely to focus on the cultural and magical significance of an artefact than its potential interest to collectors or plain weight of gold or gems, not to mention how much of a challenge it will be to retrieve.

The Motto

"Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow, who knows? The stone you turn may be your last."
